Shoot and Play Your Heart Out by Zedrin Shoot and Play Your Heart Out by Zedrin
Ask Mafia Octavia

Milestone marker for 1700 followers. Never fathomed that this blog would've gotten this far, with still so much more to come.

I'm glad to know people enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing/drawing it.

These are available as wallpaper downloads, as 3 versions:
Tumblr version
Cellist version (No text)
Mobster version

And I wonder if anyone recognizes the song...

Okay I noticed on the Cellist version that Octavia's shadow is the same as the Mafia version, Is that on purpose?

Yeah. Originally I wanted to just do it with the cellist and a shadow where the gun is showing, but the method I used to make the shadow was complex enough to make a variant of her with her gun, so I just took the extra few steps.

Ah okay, It was just interesting to see that this method had been used, most people don't use it that often ^^ glad to see it's here

I call it pseudovectoring-- making vector paths that are immediately rasterized. Attains a minimalistic look while still being quite detailed.

To the picture that is on your tumblr: I like that you added Flim and Flam with the creepy smile and no-smile, as he takes forward the gun to begin the assault at the scene which now brings me to suspect that you choose that song for a reason ;) As Vinyl plays on - Octavia handles the bad guys! :squee:

Um... Is there a version without the text? I'd love to use the 'cellist version' as a wallpaper but the text kinda ruins it for me.
Also, need to check out your tumblr. The mobster Octavia idea is so silly that it can actually work!

Btw, I'm pretty sure it's "cellist", not "celloist" ;)

I still remember when I saw the beginning of this tumblr. Out of all of the famous Ask Pony blogs with alot of famous artists...it was THIS blog that got me to get an account. You've been doing an exemplary job and to think...1700 followers...I'm more than positive you can get up there within the pantheon of popular blogs in no time soon. Keep up the good work!

Damn, Zedrin... Why have you gotta be so good at what you do? Good gravy, man, Mafia Octavia jumped to one of my favourite Ask Pony blogs the moment I saw the concept. You're fantastic art and gripping pacing in the story only enthused me more!

I can't believe it's only at 1700 followers! From such an amazing piece of story-telling I'd expect far more! (Although really, now I think about it, 1700 is a fair amount for the short time the blog's been open, huh?) I eagerly await more installments from you, old sport, and especially some more expansion of the delightful universe you've fashioned.
